Florida Deputy Arrested For Alleged Dui – Terminated From Job

A deputy in Florida was arrested and terminated his job for reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol in Tampa city. 

According to the reports, the deputy in Pinellas County, Florida is being accused of driving under the influence of alcohol in Tampa after he got into a vehicular accident last week which led to his arrest on Saturday night.

In an exclusive report published by the Fox station WTVT based in Tampa, the state police reportedly received a report of vehicular accident on I-275 near Fletcher Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. on February 4.

When the police responded to the scene, they discovered 33-year old Christopher Dewayne Cook who allegedly sideswiped another vehicle.

In the police report, the officers who discovered Cook, claimed that the latter was showing signs of impairment as his eyes as his speech was slurred and eyes were glossy.

In addition, the police officers also reported that Cook, who was reportedly a deputy with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office at the time of the crash, had trouble describing what led him to the car crash. 

The officers also added that his clothing and breath smelled of alcohol. 

Furthermore, following the incident, the news station released an update on the status of Cook’s case where it was revealed that the alleged drunk driver was ultimately taken to a jail in Hillsborough County jail on Orient Road. 

According to the report, upon arriving at the county jail, the arrested police officer reportedly refused to submit to a breathalyzer test.

However, despite his refusal, Cook was charged with Driving Under Influence with property damage. 

The court ordered a bond which was set at $500 but the arrested police officer immediately posted the next day. 

In an exclusive report published by WTVT, the media outlet revealed that Cook was hired by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in September 2014 and served as a deputy in the patrol operations bureau.

However, following Cook’s arrest, he was immediately fired by the Sheriff’s office. 

At the time of writing, no reports have been released, regarding the owner of the vehicle that Cook allegedly sideswiped.
